Sports

All students who participate in sports at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School must have a Physical Form and Parental Release Form turned into the school to be able to practice or play.  Physical Forms may be picked up in the front office.

  • As the volleyball program continues to grow, GPHS looks forward to competing at the highest level for District Championships in the future. Hagen Sims is the coach.

  • This team is coached by Tye Marshall. The current players are determined to make baseball a winning tradition at G-P.

  • The Highlanders have a long-standing tradition of competing at the very highest level in their district, and are looking forward to bigger and better things in the future.  Rashid Moore and his staff are looking for the best of the best to continue their journey to the top of their district. Rashid Moore is the coach assisted by Gabriel Hinton, Noah Clinton, and Steffan Schroeder.

  • The Lady Highlanders have a long tradition of competing at the very highest level in their district.  Katie Moore looks forward to continuing this long-standing tradition of improving each year. The Lady Highlanders continue to be dedicated to being a program that both the school and the community can be proud of.  Katie Moore is assisted by Conchita Owenby, Hagen Sims, and Mindy Brackins.

  • Alex Bowers will be the head coach, assisted by Melissa Weiss. The Lady Highlanders reached the TMSAA Final Four in their inaugural season in 2020-2021.

  • The boy’s soccer team continues the tradition of excellence that all Gatlinburg-Pittman sports have achieved. The team is coached by Zach Schrandt.

  • Students have the opportunity to demonstrate gymnastics and dance skills while supporting the basketball and football teams. Tryouts are held in the spring for the following school year. Coach Leigh Anne Parton

  • Cross Country is coached by Brian Hardison. It takes place in the fall of each year. The girl’s and the boy’s teams are highly competitive and have won numerous regional championships. Bobbi Watson will be assisting.

  • The GP football team is one of the most successful football programs in the state.  Region Championships and State Play-offs complete the schedule year after year.  Coaches with valuable experience and a winning tradition contribute to a great program.  Weight training, discipline, pride, self-esteem, and character, add to a complete well- rounded program. Derek Rang is the coach.

  • Ralph Kidd and Bobby Owens will lead the GPJH football program.

  • The girls’ team was the 2011 Regional Runner-Up and Member of the Elite Eight.  This fall sport begins in July. The team is coached by Caleb Keener.

  • Softball is very competitive with a great mix of young and experienced players. This spring sport is coached by Mike Cox.

  • The GP golf program has had excellent success in recent years. Practice begins in mid-July. Paige Yates coaches both teams.

  • Lacrosse made its appearance for the first time in the spring of the 2013-2014 school year at GPHS. This is a club sport. Rod Case is the coach.

  • The boy’s team has won five straight District Championships and four straight Region Titles. The boys and girls teams have sent several players to the State Tournament since 2000.  Alexis Barrett and Monika Williams coach both teams.

  • Track and field events take place in the spring. GP has sent athletes to the State Track meet three out of the last six years. The track team is coached by Ralph Kidd.
